The Prophet’s Portion
He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me. “He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. (Mathew 10:40-41).
If you receive a prophet as one who speaks for God, you will be given the same reward as a prophet
I preach Jesus as God. If you receive me, God will receive you!
If you do not receive the man who preaches Jesus as God you cannot receive God!
The prophets reward is the divine ability to receive the knowledge of God being God
Islamics believe Jesus and say he is a prophet. We know this is not so for if they received the prophet Jesus they would know him as God and not just a prophet. Similarly Christians who say Jesus as prophet, know Jesus only as a son and refuse to acknowledge him as God.
One of the first steps to knowing Jesus as God is to receive his prophets, their witness, Remember at the way to Emmaeus he Jesus opened up their eyes.. Now He said to them, “These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures (Luke 24:45,46).
They had to accept his word as a prophet in order to see the revelation of him as God in the scriptures. That’s the prophets reward. It is the ability to see Jesus as God in the scriptures.
When He had reclined at the table with them, He took the bread and blessed it, and breaking it, He began giving it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized Him; and He vanished from their sight (Luke 24:30,31).
They said to one another, “Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was explaining the Scriptures to us? I like that “burning hearts”. if you lost your fire, then get into the oneness of God. that’s apostolic fire right there!
They said to one another, “Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was explaining the Scriptures to us? (v 36).
Let me digress here, if you want a burning heart you’re going to have to receive from another what you could not get alone by yourself. There are some things only a prophet can tell you. If you’re going to ignore him as just another man another passer by you are not going to be able to walk in the revelation of Jesus as he is.
There are some who see Jesus as he is and those others who see the Jesus of History. Oh yes the one who walked with the disciples Mary’s Son. They know him in part because that side of the cross they looked through a glass darkly. some still do. Paul we know was given to preach the full mystery of God and his godliness he was’nt to open the eyes those born blind and reveal the God in Christ.
Notice then he takes them to the table.
They still don’t know who he is. I mean they have eat food wit him sat with him had meals together yet they did not know who he is. Now that’s the church today at the Lord’s table. This was the last place they eat and talked with him before the crucifixion and he brings them back to the table again. Remember that the table is the place of both, portion and mission and revelation.
If we don’t break the same bread we cant share the same destiny.
if we don’t understand the same truth we cant get to the same place.
So he takes them to the table.
The Lord’s table, is where Jesus is wherever you share him. The Lords table is a meal where we feast on revelation and truth. David said it like this “he prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.” That’s where we go and break bread. Its not eating and drinking but sharing and teaching. That’s where we “Share in the Lord’s death” We share his death and by doing so we break the bread in the presence of our enemies.
Jesus said “I am the bread of life, he that cometh to me shall never hunger and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.” Thus the preaching and sharing of the gospel is the eating and drinking of the body and blood of the Lord. Its a perpetual supper. an ongoing feast among our enemies and with our friends.
Back to Jesus around the table. Jesus takes them to the table. and he breaks bread. What happens when he breaks bread. they recognize him. Here is the principle its as we share revelation of his deity that we understand who God is. This understanding of who Jesus is after the Spirit, not after the flesh but after the spirit is also the prerequisite to an apostolic ministry of signs and wonders in his name.
If we want power like the apostles then we have to receive truth like the disciples. This truth turned them for disciples into apostles. so many remain today disciples because they don’t have the revelation of the apostles which is the prophets reward.
The feast given to those of the faith is an ability to “proclaim the Lords death till he comes” whether to the world or those around us we desire to preach Jesus death burial and resurrection the full gospel to those around us.
The apostles had fire. and that fire was a burning … Read the rest
