Scripture Reading: 1 Peter 5:10.
Purpose: Understanding our Life in Christ.
THE SCRIPTURES
PROPOSITION: It is the duty of all believers to be settled in the doctrine of Christ
AIM: To understand the importance of being grounded and settled in Christ
INTRODUCTION: To excel in life one has to apply oneself to discovering the Word and the God you serve. Search the scriptures and develop a love for truth that will handsomely reward you with a faith that is unshakable a confidence that is unmoveable and a Knowledge of God that no man can take away
1.How to stay secure through adversity?
If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister; (Col 1:23).
2.What accompanies being established in the faith.
(1 Cor 10:32) God will make you established, perfect, settle and strengthen you (1 Peter 5:10).
3.Is it possible to be unmoveable in ones faith?
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Cor 15:58).
4,How can we abound in abundance in the things of God?
What are the ways we can err if we are not steadfast
Jude speaks of wandering stars (Jude13) Reuben unsettled as water thou shalt not excell (Genesis 49:4).
5.Are those who wander prone to deceptive spirits?
But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction (2 Peter 2:1).
6.Perfect and perfected: What ways are we perfected?
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: (Ephesians 4:11-12)
7.Growing up!
That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; Ephesians 4:14
8.Grounded:
That is rooted as a tree. These things that I have written you concerning them that seduce you (1 John 2:26).
9. Fruitful: the results of being faithful
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper (Psalm 1:3)
10.Strengthened
To be settled in one’s faith is a duty and an honour unsettled believers do not settle for that which is best but rather for that which is safest. Those who are not settled in their faith will never suffer for it. Skeptics never prove martyrs is coming to you a multiplication of truth

What three benefits are there for the established believer? Grace and peace is multiplied to us.Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, (2 Peter 1:2). We shall receive all things that appertain to life and godliness. ‘According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:’ (2 Peter 1:3). The faithful shall abound with blessings. We shall receive exceeding great promises. Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. (2 Peter 1;4)
Questions to Consider: how can we grow in family prayer? What family bible time together? What time have we made for fellowship each week?
