#04 How Should We Study The Bible
Scripture reading (1 Thess 5;21)

General Subject
The Believers Bible Study
Scripture reading (1 Thess 5;21)

1.We should study the bible to prove all things

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.” (1 Thess 5:21)

2.We should study the bible for correction

“Thus says the LORD, The heaven is My throne, and the earth is My footstool: where is the house that you build unto Me? And where is the place of My rest? For all those things has Mine hand made, and all those things have been, says the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembles at My word.” (Isaiah  66:1-2)

3.We should study the bible to know Jesus as God.

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me (John 5:39).

4.We should study the bible to obtain instructions in righteousness

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for CORRECTION, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Tim 3:16-17).

5.We should read the bible to discern between rumour and revelation

Why didChrist speak in parables? The Bible says, “And the disciples came, and said unto Him, Why speak You unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given” (Matt. 13:10-11).

6.We show study the bible to seek answers to controversies

The Bereans “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” (Acts 17:11)

7.We should study the scriptures to know God and God’s will

If any man will ( willet to do RV) to do his will he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of god or whether I speak of myself (John 7:17).

8.We should study the scriptures assisted with the Holy Ghost

But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God (1 Cor 2:10)

For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. (1 Cor 2;11)

9.We should seek scriptures to make us wise unto salvation

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. (1 Cor 2:14).

10.We should study the scriptures to show ourselves approved before God and Man

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)The good man brings good things out of his good store of treasure, and the evil man brings evil things out of his evil store of treasure (Matthew 12:35).Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. (Col 4:6).

NOTES:

We should study the bible comparatively, having a number of versions. One particular verse found only in the KJV is I John 5:7. It is not found in any older Greek manuscripts. It was most likely added by a monk scribe who injected the theology of the counterfeit church during the middle Ages.

It states, “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” This heretical verse was injected to promote the false doctrine of the trinity

Questions to Consider

What three qualities does the Holy Ghost IMPART (Proverbs 2:3-5). To those who believe the resurrection and apply as in the new birth Jesus give them a divine ability, what is this divine ability (Luke 24;45). What further reward is given to the seeker of scripture? (2 Ti 3;15).

For further Study:

And Peter “remembered” the word that Jesus had said (Matt26;75).

“To call to mind” “To hold fast”and “to remember” or to “bring to remembrance.” For we shall judged by that which is written (John 12;48) and charged not “to go beyond” that which is written (1 Cor 4;6 ASV) (2 Peter 1:12-15; Mark 14:9; Luke 8:15; 1 Cor 15:2).
