The Lord’s Table

Scriptures: Thou preparest a table for me in the presence of mine enemies Psalm 23:5) When the hour had come, Jesus reclined at the table with His apostles. ( Luke 22;14) BEREAN

1.The place of Dominion
Thou preparest a table for me in the presence of mine enemies (Psalm 23:5).
Whoever would have thought that total victory is acquired and discovered in the midst of a fight and life’s biggest struggles The table the place of conversation The table in your home. in times past was a place where every member of the family sat and eat together their main meals of the day. It fostered conversation, understanding, love and family bonds that many a household today has lost. There was nothing like the family table!

2.The table the Place of Redemption So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem: for he did eat continually at the king’s table; and was lame on both his feet. (2 Samuel 9;13). The Key: Mephibosheth was lame but by sitting at the kings table, his feet were hid, therefore what God prepares hides our inabilities, weaknesses and lameness.

3.The table the place of Sanctification Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils. (1 Cor 10;21) For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night He was betrayed, took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes. (1 Cor 11:23)

4.The table the place of self Examination Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. Each one must examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body eats and drinks judgment on himself. That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep. Now if we judged ourselves properly, we would not come under judgment. But when we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned with the world. So, my brothers, when you come together to eat, wait for one another. If anyone is hungry, he should eat at home, so that when you come together it will not result in judgment. And when I come, I will give instructions about the remaining matters. (1 Cor 11:27-37)

5.The Table the place of  Revelation When He had reclined at the table with them, He took the bread and blessed it, and breaking it, He began giving it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized Him; and He vanished from their sight (Luke 24:30,31).

NOTES:

The Lord’s table, is where Jesus is wherever you share him. The Lords table is a meal where we feast on revelation and truth. David said it like this “he prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.” That’s where we go and break bread. Its not eating and drinking but sharing and teaching. That’s where we “Share in the Lord’s death”  We share his death and by doing so we break the bread in the presence of our enemies. Jesus after calling Matthew went to his house and eat food with many sinners. This was part of the way Jesus used to speak to the lost. remember he was known as ‘a friend of sinners.’ ‘Later, as Jesus was dining at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with Him and His disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked His disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice. For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” (Matthew 9:10-13) Jesus uses the table to teach a masterclass of servanthood. ‘But you shall not be like them. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who leads like the one who serves. 27For who is greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines? But I am among you as one who serves. 28You are the ones who have stood by Me in My trials.…’ (Matt 11;27) It was at the table that the Lord shared the revelation of who he truly was. (Luke 24:30-35) So He went in to stay with them. While He was reclining at the table with them, He took bread, spoke a blessing and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized Jesus—and He disappeared from their sight. They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us as He spoke with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” And they got up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, gathered together and saying, “The Lord has indeed risen and has appeared to Simon!” Then the two told what had happened on the road, and how they had recognized Jesus in the breaking of the bread. Notice then he takes them to the table. They still don’t know who he is. I mean they have eat food wit him sat with him had meals together yet they did not know who he is. Now that’s the church today at the Lord’s table. This was the last place they eat and talked with him before the crucifixion and he brings them back to the table again. Remember that the table is the place of both, portion and mission and revelation. If we don’t break the same bread we cant share the same destiny. if we don’t understand the same truth we cant get to the same place. So he takes them to the table. Jesus takes them to the table. and he breaks bread. What happens when he breaks bread, they recognize him. Here is the principle, its as we share revelation of his deity that we understand who God is. This understanding of who Jesus is ‘after the Spirit,’ not after the flesh but after the spirit is also the prerequisite to an apostolic ministry of signs and wonders in his name. If we want power like the apostles then we have to receive truth like the disciples. This truth turned them for disciples into apostles. so many remain today disciples because they don’t have the revelation of the apostles which is the prophets reward.
